Meeting Highlights: Project Session

We had no set topic for the May meeting.  Feedback from an email query indicated that members prefer a mix of scheduled topics and free time to crochet together, and some would like to revisit topics like broomstick and hairpin lace.  Maxine, Jodi, Peggy and Julie will form a scheduling committee, coming up with topics to explore and people to lead "class" sessions.

Quite a few members will be attending the CGOA conference in July.  All are looking forward to the shopping.  Gail suggests that conference attendees try to wear something that they have crocheted; it is a delight to see what others have made and show off your own work.

Our next meeting will be on June 11th at Borealis Yarns.  We do not have a set topic for the meeting as of this posting.  Since this will be the first meeting of summer, we should feel free to just chat-and-crochet.

Be sure to check out the Project Gallery--you've got to see Jeanne's socks!

Jodi is still working on her doily project; now that all the motifs have been made, all that remains is to fill in the "blank" spaces between the motifs.

Peggy is also trying her hand at needle felting onto silk fabric; this is a scarf in process.

Maxine and Wendy are continuing to explore tapestry crochet. Maxine is developing her own design using spike stitches, while Wendy drew an original design on graph paper before crocheting.

This photo does not do justice to Jeanne's dress--she has a terrific picture of the dress on a dress form.

Peggy is making progress on her first sweater; she hopes to have it completed by the CGOA conference.

Yeah, yeah, these socks were knitted--but Jeanne did spin the yarn herself.

Project Session: May 14 Meeting Preview

The feedback we've gotten shows many of you are content with just getting together to crochet.  So that's what we'll do this month.  Bring your current projects, your conundrums, and your completed projects.  We'll try to solve your crochet problems and promise to ooh and ahh over your show-and-tell projects.

We meet at 2:30pm, Saturday, May 14th at Borealis Yarns for two hours of chat and crochet.

We'd like to alternate chat-and-crochet meetings with scheduled topics.  We will brainstorm topics and seek out those who can lead us as we learn new skills.  (Don't all volunteer at once!)
