June 9 Meeting Preview: Preparing for Fairs

Summertime is approaching and that means that our local county fairs and the Great Minnesota Get-Together are just around the corner. Fairs are a great opportunity to see crochet and other fiber arts projects and a chance for everyone to help promote crochet and other fiber arts. At this month's meeting, you'll hear from a panel all about how to prepare for and enter crochet items into local county fairs and the Minnesota State Fair.

The meeting will be held Saturday, June 9, at the Textile Center, with the following schedule:

10 to 11 a.m. - Open crochet
11 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Announcements, show and tell
12 to 1 p.m. - Education
1 to 2 p.m. - Open crochet

To get the most out of this meeting, please bring:
  • A printed or electronic copy of the  Preparing for Fairs Handout and the Fair Stats Handout. (Members: See the June email newsletter for the PDF; we'll also have a few extra printed copies at the meeting.)
  • Your questions! We'd like this to be an interactive session, so please bring any questions you have about entering your items in a fair.
  • If you've ever entered an item in a fair, we'd love to hear your story. Please come prepared to share your ideas and experience.
  • If you have an item that you want to enter into a fair, but can't decide on a category - we encourage you to bring it in to get input from other members.
Monthly meetings are free for CTC members, $5 for guests.

See the June newsletter for more information about entry deadlines for various Minnesota county fairs and the Minnesota State Fair.

Reminder about the new show-and-tell format for our meeting: Please mark your items with a tag that provides a brief description of your project, such as the yarn, the pattern name, etc...(or just your Ravelry name and project name, if you've already added your project). Blank tags will be available at the meeting.
