July 14 Meeting Preview: Make and Take

Make-and-take projects are all the rage - where you make something during a short session and take it with you at the end. At this month's meeting, CTC member Andrew will share a fun and functional project he designed. It's the perfect make and take for summer: a crocheted water bottle carrier. We'd love to hear about other make-and-take projects, so be sure to bring your ideas or recommendations for other projects.

The meeting will be held Saturday, July 14, at the Textile Center, with the following schedule:

10 to 11 a.m. - Open crochet
11 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Announcements, show and tell
12 to 1 p.m. - Education
1 to 2 p.m. - Open crochet

To get the most out of this meeting, please bring:

  • A printed or electronic copy of the handout. (Members: See the July email newsletter for the PDF; we'll also have a few extra printed copies at the meeting.)
  • Approximately 2 ounces of worsted-weight cotton yarn, such as Lily Sugar 'n Cream
  • Appropriate size hook for your yarn. Since this project will need to be crocheted fairly tightly to securely hold the water bottle, you may want to bring a smaller hook than you normally use for worsted weight yarn.
  • A water bottle you'd like to cover.  A glass water bottle is ideal for this project - the bottle will be reusable and the sturdy cover can help protect it from breakage.

Monthly meetings are free for CTC members, $5 for guests.
