In December, we celebrate the CTC successes of the past year and share yarn and crochet items that other members might appreciate more than we did after we bought them! Please note that the December 14th meeting is a members-only meeting.
What is de-stash?
December De-stash is the time to share with your fiber
friends those items in your stash that you no longer need, want, love or plan
to use.
What to bring to de-stash?
All kinds of crochet-related items, magazines, books, tools
and of course yarn of all types too--yarn suitable for winter-warm charity
projects, “luxury” yarns, good ol’ workhorse worsted, whatever you are ready to
part with.
To make spotting your favorites easier, all contributed yarn
must be in a plastic bag with basic information clearly visible--on the ball
band or marked on the bag.

As you arrive, we will have the usual sign-in table. You
will be given a table number. Remember the number. You will need this number
for Trivia Time.
There will be designated areas to deliver your de-stash
items.
From 10:00 to 11:00, we’ll have open crochet while the
sorters organize the de-stash items.
At 11:00, we’ll start the meeting as usual with
introductions. Show and tell will be done from our seats--wear your favorite
crocheted party finery; here’s your chance to flaunt it. Then there’s the
transfer of The Bell to incoming president Felicia. Followed by an initial
viewing of the de-stash contributions--no grabbing!
Next, we’ll recognize the CTC Board officers and
coordinators for 2019: we’ll list their
names and ask them to stand. Applaud
them--and then they’ll get a chance to pick one item each from the Big Yarn
Mountain o’ De-stash. The group gets no more than 5 minutes to choose, as we’ll
all be eagerly awaiting our turns. Next, all CTC members who have participated
in a community event (State Fair, Guild Wall, Fiber Festival, etc.) and those
who’ve contributed items for charity or assisted with crochet education will
stand, be recognized and thanked, and get their pick of one item each.
At 12:00, we’ll start the Trivia Contest. Find your assigned
table and play along. The Trivia Contest will determine the order of the next
de-stash selections. Points will be awarded to teams for each correct trivia
answer. Based on point totals, the teams
will pick from the de-stash, so then everyone in the room will have at least
one goodie to bring home.
At 1:00, the remaining de-stash items will be
distributed. The de-stash crew will
present each item for consideration. If you are the only one interested in that
item, it is yours. If more than one
person is interested, all names will be thrown into a bowl and a winner drawn.
A note on food: It’s traditional that parties attract irresistible food
items. Bring what you like--but please don’t feel pressured to do so. And do be
aware of food sensitivities, allergies, other restrictions, and the natural
attraction of yarn fibers to sticky gooey goodness.
