Hearts & Flowers, Yarn & ...Zombies?

I can't believe it's February already. I've been seeing hearts and flowers in all the shades of pink and red everywhere I look.  Now onto the yarn. Thirteen members and friends braved the cold for January's 4th Saturday meetup, including 2 first timers. It's always fun to meet new crochet friends and I think we made an extra-special impression because we had free yarn! I mean lots and lots of free yarn.  Carla was fortunate enough to receive the yarn from a colleague and generous enough to share it with us.

Now onto the Zombies. I am really looking forward to our February 11 meeting on amigurumi.   We'll each be making our own Zombie.  Could this little guy be the perfect gift for your favorite Valentine?  Thank you to both Bree and Gloria for sharing their amigurumi expertise with us. And an extra thank you to Gloria for sharing her pattern with us.

Virginia has set up a Zoom meeting (see the newsletter for the link), for our first attempt at a hybrid meeting.   We'll be meeting in person at the Penn Lake Library | Hennepin County (hclib.org), but you can also join us via Zoom for the education and business portion of the meeting.  This is an experiment for us. If you can't join us in person, please join the Zoom meeting. It will help us to get a feel for how it works.

Here's a little peek into the future:

February 25, the meetup will be at the Mall of America.  Many of our members are happy to carpool or offer rides to those who need transportation.   Refer to your 2023 member roster to find members who live in your area or send an email to ctclist@gmail.com with your information, and we'll help you get in touch.

The March 11 meeting education topic will be Solomon's Knot.  We're meeting at the St. Anthony Library | Hennepin County (hclib.org).  The March 25 meetup will be at the HarMar Barnes & Noble.

April is going to be a busy month.   Everyone's favorite State Fair Judge, Suzy, will join us at the Highland Park | Saint Paul Public Library (sppl.org) for our April 8 meeting. She'll be teaching us her version of a granny square.

The very next weekend is the 2023 Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop.  Interested members can join us on Saturday, April 15 when Brenda will be providing her 15-passenger van and chauffeuring to the first 14 to sign up.  Additional carpooling can be arranged if needed.  There will be a small fee for gas, and you'll need to plan for your own lunch.  RSVP to ctclist@gmail.com, once we find out the level of interest, we'll be able to start planning the day.

And of course, we'll be back at the Mall of America for the April 22 meetup.  Whew, that's a lot of activity!
