Zooming in January

Most of our meetings are in person, and our education is provided by members of our guild. We did something a little different this month. Our January education topic was Understanding Symbol Crochet, presented by Edie Eckman, via Zoom.

Over 20 members attended, some of whom are already quite adept at reading charts, and even they found value in the class. The way Edie explained symbol crochet made it more accessible. I was even able to create a little chart on my own at the end. As part of the class, we practiced making a few swatches following sample charts; Bree did an awesome job of recreating Edie's charts in gray and black.

Next month's topic is amigurumi, being taught by our very own amigurumi gurus: Bree & Gloria.  The pattern we'll be using is one of Gloria's own creations and was tested by Bree. Could we be in better hands?  I don't think so.

In the spirit of trying new things, Virginia will be hosting a Zoom meeting covering the same topic, at the same time as the in-person meeting. Details can be found in the calendar and will be included in the February member newsletter.

February's meeting will be at the Penn Lake Library (for directions see Penn Lake Library | Hennepin County (hclib.org)). I hope to see you there!
