Happy New Year

December 30, 2023 Crochet Twin Cities meetup at MOA

Just a shout out to say Happy New Yarn! And to share a picture from the December 30th meetup at the Mall of America; it was great to see all 16 members and guests who joined us.  A special shout out to the pair that were here from up north. They've been following us on Facebook for a while, so it was a treat to meet them in person. If you are not local to the Cities, and are going to be in for a visit, let us know at ctclist@gmail.com or check our calendar.  Most of our events are open to the public; we always love to meet new crochet enthusiasts and fellow fiber artists of all types.  *I've seen members and guests bring knitting needles, cross stitch and at least one felting kit, and no one even complained!

Purple wine tote by Nancy
Nancy's Wine Tote
We had a lot of fun with Moogly at our December 9 meeting!  If you finished your Twisted Texture Wine Gift bag, be sure to share it with us on Facebook or Ravelry or send a picture via email to ctclist@gmail.com.   The joy of sharing our finished projects is one of the most popular perks of hanging out with other fiber artists.
Brenda's Bottle Tote
Nancy shared a picture of her finished bag, and Brenda finished hers during the December 30 meetup.
It's always fun to see the impact yarn choices can make in the finished project; in this case even though the color scheme is similar, mixing things up gave two very different looks. One is kind of fun & funky and the other a little more classic.  Both make a cute and functional gift or carry bag.  I love them both!
Hey...isn't President's Day coming up soon?  For some reason, it just occurred to me that President's Day is in February, how weird is that?
.
.
Is it just me or was there just an awkward pause? Oh, well, never mind!

Back to the meetup at the mall.  Someone asked about the benefits of official membership in Crochet Twin Cities.  Why invest the $24/year in joining Crochet Twin Cities.  My first answer is always that I’ve heard it said "CTC is the cheapest*, best therapy available." *Ok, truth in advertising, joining CTC only costs $2.00 per month, CTC does not acknowledge any responsibility for your supplies (YARN!!!) or tools (although, often we'll share both yarn & tools).  But is that reason enough to join?   Before you decider here are a few additional perks of being a member
  • The monthly newsletter delivered in your inbox.
  • Access to all of our handouts and education
  • A member roster with contact information
  • Access to members only events such as: the annual destash, formal education & certain community events.
  • Leadership and decision-making roles are limited to official members.  In addition to the board, there are a variety of coordinator positions available and members can bring new ideas to the board meetings and vote at the meetings, as well as electing the officers.
  • While supplies last, new members will receive CTC swag. Members and non-members can order CTC swag by reaching out to Theresa at meetings or meetups or by reaching out to ctclist@gmail.com
And please know, we never want money to keep you away from crochet.  We love crochet and want to share it with everyone, so, we do offer "scholarships".  If the membership fee is the only thing holding you back from joining, please connect with a board member (President: Theresa, VP: Brenda, Secretary: Barb, Treasurer: Carla, Education Chair: Bree, or any of the coordinators: Marissa, Lori or Joy) or make a note on your membership form and we’ll reach out to you.
The membership form is available on our website under Member Policies.  Give your completed form to any board member dues in cash at any meeting or meetup or send an email to ctclist@gmail.com and arrange an alternate payment method..
